I’m Stuck.

“𝙏𝙖𝙮, 𝙄’𝙢 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙘𝙠.“

I hear these words far too often. You would not believe the amount of people that reach out to me daily wanting to improve their health, lose weight, etc etc etc… but are overwhelmed with where to start.

𝑆𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑦 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑑𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑦, 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑝, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑛 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙... 𝑌𝑜𝑢’𝑙𝑙 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 “𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝑏𝑜𝑑𝑦.“

Let me start off this post with saying 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑒𝑐𝑡. Feeling good about your body comes from within. You have to start by loving yourself THEN tackling everything else.

Another huge tip: you have to do this for YOU. You can’t do this for anyone else, or you’ll give up. YOU have to hold yourself accountable. YOU have to be the one transforming from the inside. No one else can do that for you.

I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but I do know a little bit about this topic. I have my undergrad in Exercise Science with a minor in coaching, my masters in Kinesiology, have a bunch of certifications, I own a gym where I train, teach classes, and develop workout plans, I’m a lifetime athlete playing multiple sports in high school and volleyball in college, and study this topic daily. I mean 𝑑𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑦.

𝗦𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸. 𝐼 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑐 𝑓𝑜𝑟 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝐼’𝑙𝑙 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑖𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑒.

1. SLEEP. Comical, right? I always start here when I’m consulting. I wish I was joking. You need two full REM cycles (approx. 4 hours each) for your body systems to repair. Without proper sleep, you’re literally 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑖𝑔𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑦 spinning your wheels. Limit your screen time at night. Get some blue-light blockers. Develop a sleep routine.

2. Get your hormones checked. You can do a simple Dutch test. If you’re imbalanced or depleted, you’re going to have a hard time taking a step forward.

3. Gut Lining. A healthy gut is absolutely vital in a healthy routine and for body systems to function properly. Without a healthy gut, our immune systems are shot and our “second brain” can’t help us. Look into pre and pro biotic foods/ supplements. This is a huge huge topic. More on this to come.

4. Food. Metabolism boosting. Diving into food is such a huge topic and can be 𝑠𝑜 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙. If you’re limiting your calories, you’re actually killing your metabolism and you’ll have to work ten times harder to get that back. Fuel your body with unprocessed, whole foods (𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞!). You’ll feel way more satisfied, increase your fiber, and improve your gut lining.

5. Lift. Get off that elliptical. If you have injured joints, 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚. Find a good chiropractor, incorporate mobility training DAILY. Lifting not only increases our bone mineral density (which we lose rapidly after 15), but increases calorie expenditure exponentially.

I’m not a doctor, and I’m not here to prescribe anything or cure your ailments. But even if you incorporate ONE of these tips you’ll see huge improvements.
