The quickest way to make ACTUAL changes in your body isn’t as complicated as it’s made out to be.
The short answer is gaining muscle. Increasing your lean muscle mass has endless benefits, but what people miss is HOW.
This is going to break a lot of hearts, but doing your fitness class or exercise program with the same consistent weights will not yield muscle hypertrophy (muscle growth).
You have to lift weight heavy enough to challenge your muscles. When you lift heavy you actually are creating little micro-tears in the muscle, which then trigger a biological reaction where the body initiates repair. This process creates newer, stronger muscle fibers to replace the damaged ones, resulting in muscle growth over time.
You need stress adaptation.
Lift heavy ➡️ Proper refuel and rest ➡️ muscles repair = increased muscle mass.
Increased muscle mass = higher basal metabolic rate, increased motor control, increased bone mineral density, “more tone,” along with an endless list of positive outcomes.
In my fitness membership or custom plan I harp pretty hard on having a variety of weights to use. Challenging yourself. Repairing and refueling correctly. I understand some just want to use what they’re comfortable with, but I’m going to always push you to go harder, lift heavier, and accelerate your progress. I want to see you achieve your qualitative and quantitative goals. And I’m going to design programs to get you there effectively and efficiently, but this takes trusting me!
Strong is sexy. Strong is achievable. Strong is long-term improvement. Strong is a better quality of life. Strong means less injury. 🫶🏽
